The three greatest teachings of JesusÂ…
by darth frosty inthe three greatest teachings of jesus.
are all cancelled out by the practices and teaching of the fds.
jesus gave three outstanding examples of what it is to be a follower of his and the actions and mindset that you should have, all three of these teachings or example's are diminished by the practices of jw's.

So I was at the Circus Ass-embly
by Vachi 8 He Is inand noted how they made mention of how many people had left other religions, but of course they said nothing of how many had escaped the dubs.
i just thought that was funny.
i also must've heard what god will do as opposed to what he is doing like 700 times; and this was in one day.

I'd be really curious how many have really left the organization this year....
i do a calculation from the yearbook stats.. find the actual difference between this year's and last year's averages, and compare that to the number baptised. # baptised is how much the growth should technically be, so the amount missing is how many left.
worldwide:
298,000 baptised. (rounded numbers)
6,692,000 (2007 avg. pub.) minus 6,492,000 (2006 avg. pub.) = 200,000 actual increase.
298,000 - 200,000 = 98,000 fugitives!

little WT extras
by agent zero inyou know whats always bothered me intensely?
.. when witnesses (esp.
pioneers) have all the little wt extras, such as the wt year agenda, the wt removable book covers, bible with their name printed on the leather cover, the rv book with the little tower logo on it, "pens from patterson" etc.

And all the while knocking the Christendom folks for doing similar things with the cross
i guess thats what annoys me the most about it. they're all against using images and symbols and stuff, but if having a little tower thing on your tie clip makes you so much more spiritual then someone who doesnt....
oh yeah the bookmarks! those seem to be a hit. the ones with the bible reading schedule. if you have a regular bookmark with maybe a nature picture on it, you'll likely get offered a WT one by some benevolent sister who believes that she thereby helped you with a great bookmark-upgrade. haha k, maybe thats a little stretched.

it would sure help weed out the fence-sitters
thats what i think too.
the same way changing the how-to-view-df'ds policy would weed out the fence-sitters. if they made it that you can still talk to and be friends with them, then everyone who doesnt actually WANT to be there can just leave free of consequences, hence rooting out a large chunk, and leaving only the die hard believers.

What is the shortest prayer you have ever heard in the KH?
by asilentone inone time, a elder said like "heavenly father jehovah, thank you for the meetings.
i pray thru jesus name amen" i was so stunned it was a very short prayer.

a good friend of mine who's usually good on stage once got really nervous or something during the thursday closing prayer, and after "jehovah god, we thank you for..." he drew a complete blank and after a few seconds which i'm sure felt to him like minutes, just closed with "sorry.. in jesus name amen" good times

just wanted to let that out

how many insiders?
by agent zero inhi everyone, i'm new here, been viewing the board for a while, decided to join yesterday.. so i'm about 95% convinced now the wts is bogus, but i'm still in coz as yall know leaving is the hardest part.
i plan on doing a fade to avoid the complete disconnection, but first want to gradually help my gf to see things too.
in the meantime, i'm just wondering how many of you are still "active" jdubs?

thanx for all your inputs! llbh, thanx for your advice, but it's definitely easier said then done. unfortunately my situation is more like bythesea's, having friends and family all "very much in it", making leaving all the more difficult.
i always somewhat suspect ones who are in the large, well-known witness families.. statistically the odds are higher (ie. what are the odds of everyone in a 20 ppl extended family all believing the exact same thing) and additionally they have more family to lose for leaving too.. and often they're a result of several generations of dubs so it sort of becomes a "heritage" issue too... (remember that article "remembering your christian heritage")

Isn't this proof the GB doesn't believe what it preaches?
by nbernat inif the gb really thought they had the exact truth perfect from flaws, shouldn't they be telling their members, "go look at the apostate stuff-- you'll see it's all lies!
compare it to the bible and you'll see it's all lies!
" that would completely eliminate apostasy if it were all true, no?.

B the X, its sooooo true how they get ppl from other religions to totally re-examine, doubt, question, leave their religions, but as soon as someone raises a thought provoking question to them they shut down completely, like they'd rather not even think about it. of course all the JW info is put together in a way so it seems amazingly true so it makes sense that many would believe it, but then to not even give attention to a differing viewpoint is just beyond me, seems so rediculous.
i also agree that if the GB was honest they'd invite members to compare with apostate and/or open viewpoint information, because the "truth", being on their side, should then be obvious right? but they know it just doesnt hold up. also, on sites like this one is where you find the people who are most willing to debate about religion...... isnt that what they're supposed to be looking for in the first place when they're out in service?? alot of service time available here for 'em pioneers!
